My Story
In all honesty, I never imagined that I would be in a position where I would be working so hard to help make pickleball accessible to more people. I played pickleball for the first time by accident. A friend invited me to go play by sending me a text that said "Do you want to come play pickleball?" Now, being the avid sport lover that I am, I was excited to play, but, I read my text too quickly and thought that he was asking me to play basketball. The confusion on my face must have been apparent when I arrived at the pickleball court to realize that there were no basketball hoops anywhere to be found. I had never even heard of the sport of pickleball. Now, here I was, playing it with a great group of friends, making a fool of myself, and having a blast. I had a great time playing, but since then, I have found it very difficult to find the time or a place to play more.

I love sports, I always have. I have four young children, and we have been trying to get them involved in youth sports for some time now. The wonderful thing about pickleball is that it is a sport that is cross-generational. My seven-year-old can pick up a paddle and hit the ball back and forth with me, no problem. It is a sport that brings people together, especially families and is something that everyone can enjoy regardless of size, physical ability, or age. That is one reason why we feel like this sport has grown in popularity so quickly over the last few years. Anyone can play and have a good time while doing it.
My goal with The Family Pickle is to help foster a community that shares that same passion. Bringing families together in a way that can create lasting memories. I am excited to meet other people who, like me, want to build and develop skills, sportsmanship, and relationships that can bond over a sport that was created for just that, bringing people together.
